Mindfulness – program
In our Mindfulness program, we develop and mediate a risk-competent attitude and a pedagogically-preventive toolbox. We participate in the development of practice and evaluation projects that facilitate a mindful, best possible handling of the psychedelic experience.
In Psychedelic Education, people get a chance to learn how to utilize the psychedelic experience positively and purposefully for personal development.
In Harm Reduction we teach how potential damage can be prevented. These includes harm reduction in party contexts, festivals and for psychonautic uses. It also includes clients or patients in psychotherapies involving psychedelic methods. Our understanding of prevention is geared to international standards as formulated for example by the EU-program UPC-Adapt. Of course this comprises a critical advancement of such standards.
Training in integration methods: for self-reflection, peer-mentoring and psychotherapy
In workshops and in advanced training, members of MIND appropriate and teach the integrative handling of the psychedelic experience. Currently, we are working on three different modules:
- Module 1 Self-Reflection: for people that have, had, or seek personal experience with psychedelic states. The goal is to foster knowledge and abilities in dealing with these states – no matter whether they are substance-induced or non-pharmacological. For this module there already is an established pilot-format called TIP-advanced training. Other formats will be developed by us.
- Module 2 Coaching: for people that desire to be trained as mentors or coaches for friends, acquaintances, and colleagues. Here we develop skills to accompany and advise others. We instruct basics in conversation, feedback, target-oriented goal setting, and companionship in altered states of consciousness. This module is not about taking the role of a professional therapist but about everyday support and advice. Essentials of conversation techniques, feedback, cooperative finding of goals and accompanying altered states of conciousness are being tought.
- Module 3 psychotherapy and counseling: advanced training for medical and psychological psychotherapists and trained counselors that are regularly in contact with people that have made a psychedelic experience or are experiencing a psychedelic crisis.
Geared to real societal practices
Our activities in the Mindfulness-Program are based on the realities in our societies. Non-pharmacological practices like immersive breathing (e.g. holotropic breathwork) are usually not regulated by law. However those practices based on psychoactive substances are often strongly regulated.
The vision of MIND is to create safe and legal contexts for psychedelic experience. Wherever people are striving for the psychedelic experience by using psychoactive substances we accept that – without encouraging to do so.
