Rolf Verres, Professor Dr. med., graduate psychologist, is a specialist in psychotherapeutic medicine, musician, and photographer. Until autumn 2013, he was a full professor and director of the Institute of Medical Psychology at the Center for Psychosocial Medicine, Heidelberg University Hospital.

He studied medicine and psychology in Münster, Heidelberg, and Stanford University/California as a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation. He then received his doctorate in 1977 from the Chair of Occupational and Social Medicine in Heidelberg. He wrote his habilitation in 1986 on “Subjective Theory of Disease and Preventive Behavior.”

Dr. Verres’ research focuses on subjective theories of disease, psycho-oncology, health psychology, analysis of health-promoting or health-damaging structures in clinics, and music therapy.
