Harry Sumnall is Professor in Substance Use at the Public Health Institute, Liverpool John Moores University, UK. His PhD examined the behavioral pharmacology of MDMA, but his professional career has covered a diverse range of interests related to substance use, particularly around drug policy, evidence and guidelines, and the development and evaluation of interventions designed to reduce drug related harms. Harry maintains a keen interest in developments in psychedelic science, particularly around policy, education, and media and communications. Harry was a member of the UK Government Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs (ACMD) for many years, and he is frequently invited to undertake consultancy work for the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) and other international bodies.
