INSIGHT 2023 – Bridging Therapy, Research, and Society
Call for Artists
Open Call for Artists for an In-Conference Exhibition
We are looking for artists who are interested in exhibiting works of all media types related to psychedelic therapy, research, culture, and/or the psychedelic experience at the INSIGHT conference in Berlin.
About the Exhibition
Our aim is to display and discuss a variety of informative, explorative, and expressive aspects of the contemporary art and culture of psychedelics. An interdisciplinary team of MIND Members from the MIND Foundation Art Section, and EDGE Neuroscience & Art will be curating the art program at the INSIGHT conference 2023 including an exhibition for which we are accepting proposals.
A creative thread runs throughout the rooms, meeting areas and passageways of the INSIGHT conference to make up the “Exploratorium.” Here, visitors (in-person & digital) can explore art exhibited in different media such as installations, paintings, projections, and performances. We will be able to accept approximately 10 pieces.
About the Application
We are happy to receive submissions for finished (or nearly finished) pieces of all media types. The criteria for application are as follows:
1. Relatedness to subject matter
The artwork should have a relation with psychedelic science and research, psychedelic culture, and/or the psychedelic experience etc. We value artworks that inspire critical discussion.
2. Diversity, creativity, originality
Admission should showcase diversity in style and perspective, imaginative and innovative approaches, and a high degree of originality.
3. Self-sufficiency
The organizational team will support the artists in art handling, but the artists will take final responsibility for installation and deinstallation. It is also important to note that the location is a “historical” building, and we are not able to drill or rig. We will support you in finding a solution to your installation if necessary.
4. Interactivity
Either the piece itself has interactive elements, or the willingness of the artists to be present and participate and interact with the conference participants.
5. Academic Reflexivity
The artist has taken into consideration the ethical implications of their work, as well as its impact on accessibility and diversity.
6. Community
We hope to grow the MIND & EDGE Arts Section community and prefer applicants who would like to be involved in future projects or collaborations.
