Augmented Psychotherapy Training (APT)

 We are constantly screening applications and are already admitting applicants for the upcoming courses. 

 A limited number of spots is available in each course, and the spots are being filled continuously. We recommend applying as early as possible

Formal Admission Criteria & Certification Requirements

Applicants with the professional qualifications listed below are eligible for admission to the APT Program. After successful completion of the training, participants receive a certificate in Psychedelic Therapy (Integration-Focused and Psychedelic-Augmented Psychotherapy).

Certified persons with the following qualifications are qualified to work independently and lead multiprofessional teams providing psychedelic therapy: 

  • Medical doctor with training in psychotherapy (e.g., specialist in psychiatry) 
  • Licensed psychotherapist 

Certified persons with the following qualifications are qualified to work in multiprofessional teams under the supervision of a medical doctor with training in psychotherapy or licensed psychotherapist: 

  • Medical doctor without completed psychotherapy training 
  • Clinical psychologist without completed psychotherapy training 
  • Family or couple therapist with academic qualification in a relevant field (minimum: BA/BSc) 
  • Psychological counsellor/coach with academic qualification in a relevant field (minimum: BA/BSc) 
  • Complementary therapist (e.g., music, dance, or art therapy) with academic qualification in a relevant field (minimum: BA/BSc) 
  • Licensed psychiatric nurse 
  • Social worker/addiction therapist 

Applicants without any of the above professional qualifications are not eligible for admission to the APT Program. 

Further requirements for certification: 

  • Minimum age of 25 years 
  • Police clearance certificate (not previously convicted for capital crimes or drug offenses)

Admission Procedure and Informal Selection Criteria

Please assess whether or not you fulfil the formal admission criteria listed above before submitting your application. With your application, please submit the following as PDF documents: 

  • Cover letter (max. 2 pages) explaining your motivation to participate in the APT program 
  • Short CV

After reviewing the application documents, the program committee will invite eligible candidates for an online interview. The following qualities are considered desirable in applicants: 

  • Understanding of/interest in psychotherapeutic processess 
  • Understanding of the scientific method and ability to think critically 
  • Self-reflection skills 
  • Professional communication skills 
  • Ability to explain psychedelic therapy to third parties 
  • Awareness of potentially problematic aspects of psychedelic therapies 
  • Respect for the need to follow legal and ethical practices 

The following attributes are considered exclusion criteria: 

  • Uncritical attitude towards ideas that can be evaluated as pseudoscience, charlatanry, conspiracy theories, or esotericism 
  • Illegal underground therapy practice 
  • General rejection of conventional medicine or psychotherapy 
  • Political or religious extremism

Tuition

Standard price: EUR 15,000.- for the complete training. The tuition does not cover accommodation and travel expenses. 

Payment options:  

  • Single payment: EUR 15,000.- 
  • Payment in eight installments: EUR 16,800.- in total 

GDP-adjusted tuition: If you work in a country with a significantly lower GDP compared to Germany, a discount between 5% and 20% will be granted. 

Discount on individual application: A limited number of spots per course is reserved for applicants with serious financial disadvantages (e.g., due to disability or chronic illness). You may submit a corresponding request for a discount (stating adequate reasons) as part of your letter of motivation when applying for APT. Whether a discount can be granted will be decided in the admission process.

The MIND Foundation is a European non-profit registered under German law (HRB 220247 B). Revenue from the APT Program cannot be extracted by individuals and is fully used to support the public benefit purposes of the organization.
