INSIGHT Forum (EN): Psychedelic Therapy is Psychotherapy: connecting the dots between two fields that belong together

In the fifth event of the INSIGHT Forum series, we are joined by Dr. rer. nat. Max Wolff, a psychologist and psychotherapist who was involved in the Phase 2 clinical trial of psychedelic therapy with psilocybin (Charité Universitätsmedizin). He is also the Head of Psychotherapy Training and Research at the MIND Foundation. Our Augmented Psychotherapy Training (APT) is a psychedelic therapist training program co-designed by him.
In his talk in the Rationale section, Max Wolff will argue that psychedelic therapy is a form of psychotherapy. He will also present illustrative patient reports from the study that show how psychedelic experiences work in psychotherapeutic contexts. In addition, he will use established psychological theories, results of empirical psychotherapy research and exemplary projects of the MIND Foundation in the context of the Augmented Psychotherapy Training to show how psychedelic therapy and psychotherapy research can be linked.

The Transratio part of the event will include a self-awareness session with breathwork. Lili Vasquez-Mock, an experienced breathwork facilitator trained in Holotropic Breathwork, will introduce breathing and relaxation exercises and guide breathwork practices. Lili Vasquez-Mock is also part of the Augmented Psychotherapy Training and is responsible for the breathwork sessions for the therapists and doctors participating in the training. She thus presents a transrational aspect of psychotherapy training and research in the context of psychedelic therapy.
